NASS payments

Alternative payment arrangements
If a client is not well enough to collect his NASS money weekly from the post office, he/she must have a GP letter in order to make an alternative arrangement. This is done by staff at the Local Immigration Team caseworker at Kent who will need to know the NASS number.

Regular support payments can be stopped and emergency support tokens (EST) can be issued every four weeks. This involves a special delivery to the client’s home by a courier.  The EST is then taken to the post office to be cashed.

In case of long term illness or disability, the client can nominate a close relative to collect money.

Bank accounts

Asylum seekers may not open any sort of bank / building society / post office account.
