Local partners

Wherever possible, we work closely with local partners, to share knowledge and complement their services.

We benefit greatly from working with other local groups:
  • British Red Cross Hampshire T: 0845 9547 222 – based in Portsmouth, this provides a service for refugees and asylum seekers arriving in Hampshire, as part of an international charity with a mission to help people in crisis.
  • CLEAR – City Life Education and Action for Refugees  T: 023 8022 1111 – this Southampton-based project offers advice services, courses including English language, social activities and a work club.
  • City of Sanctuary Southampton – ensures the city’s communities offer a warm and welcoming place for refugees and asylum seekers, practical support, events and publicity.
  • Southampton Action – practical people-to-people support for refugees in Southampton and elsewhere, including camps across Europe.

SWVG works with other organisations to provide activities. For example, Hampshire Football Association (Hants FA) worked with SWVG and CLEAR to provide sessions of soccercise, English and IT skills for women in summer 2021. “Find Your Feet” continues on Mondays in the run up to the Women’s Euros in July 2022, when some of the football matches will be played in Southampton. See the Find Your Feet film.
