Radicalisation

Safeguarding is everyone’s duty. Each of us has a role to play.

New migrants, asylum seekers and those recently granted leave to remain are in the highest category of those that might be at risk. SWVG is required by the Charities Commission to ensure that all volunteers, whatever their remit, are fully up to date with safeguarding.

The Charities Commission also expects volunteers to be aware of the impact of abuse for extremist purposes. Recognising radicalisation is taking place is an important part of safeguarding. Please watch Southampton City Council’s Raising Awareness of Prevent. You may also want to watch this government interactive training.

Remember – if you have a concern, contact David Retter, Lead Trustee for Safeguarding, david.retter@swvg-refugees.org.uk not the Council.
