SWVG runs a drop-in centre for refugees, people seeking asylum and volunteers every Friday, 9:30am to 12 noon, at the Avenue Multicultural Centre (AMC), Avenue St. Andrew’s Church, The Avenue, Southampton, SO17 1XQ. Everyone is welcome and there’s no need to make an appointment. It’s a place to get advice, make new friends, spend time together, and feel welcome and valued.
You’ll find:
- an opportunity to socialise
- SWVG and CLEAR help desks for advice and support
- refreshments
- food bags for people seeking asylum to take away
- activities including board games
- one-to-one English lessons for those eligible
- visitors from the Southampton Library Service usually on the second Friday of the month
- a representative of the Medaille Trust, who support victims of modern slavery, usually on the last Friday of the month
