Working with refugees and asylum seekers

Who we are

SWVG - General Meeting Feb 2010
SWVG General Meeting February 2010
SWVG is a group of around sixty volunteers who believe that every asylum seeker deserves respect and compassion and that applications for asylum should get a fair and proper hearing.

Our trained Visitors offer ongoing friendship, a sympathetic ear and practical support to asylum seekers in Southampton. Between us we have over 150 years' experience of helping our clients with the asylum system, we share this through introductory and regular training sessions and Support Groups.

We also work closely with local organisations such as CLEAR, Refugee Action and the Red Cross. Click here to link to these and other organisations.

We are a democratic voluntary organisation with an Executive and various sub-groups. Because SWVG is run by volunteers our admin costs are kept very low.
